British Council Graduate Scheme
TEFL courses can seem like a massive expense – especially when you have just finished university and the student debts are looming. However, there are ways you can access help with your TEFL funding.
- have graduated from a UK university in the last three years
- are not employed as a teacher, or currently engaging or about to enroll in other higher education courses at the time of application
- and are a UK national
then, you are eligible to receive a grant of upto £600 or for 50% of the course fees for your Trinity CertTESOL course under the British Council English Teaching Graduate Scheme. The scheme also enables you to attend a one day event run by the British Council to give you advice on starting a career in TEFL.
To be able to apply for this TEFL funding, you must already be enrolled on a future Trinity CertTESOL or CELTA course and the grant is payable after you have passed the course and attended the one day event. You can only apply for the grant for an intensive or part time classroom course being provided by a Trinity or Cambridge accredited provider.
There are three deadlines for this scheme per year, usually in April, July and October. The three deadlines together cover courses offered all through the year.
